goverment

why cant we start some kind of ingame law inforcement.
have are own police and court where people who are bad or who have been acussed of a crime can go and face the judge.
this would be kind of fun and would start a governed society of high officals.
so when someone is scammed or taking advantage of can go to the law and file a report.

Does P.E. not already have a law inforcement/police/judge/Government?

MindArk?

Also, Think about how many “fake” reports that would be filed?

and how would you force someone to court? they’d just log off instead.

Ermm… don’t think that would work as well as you would like it to

This idea was brought up a number of times already but it never got anywhere because there is just too much involved.

The reason we can’t have this is that any player-run government would quickly turn fascist due to the tendency of people to form cliques and grudges against each other.

dammit not another! :dunce:

I won’t bore you with the reasons why not, but it ain’t gonna work, ok? :silly2:

It’s been brought up many times before, here and…cough, elsewhere

I think a goverment would encourage me to be more naughty

hmmm cop or robber

Not sure which way I’d go - police or anarchist

Totally agree though government/monarch system would be great!

corrupt cop? :silly2:

Technically we already have a player run governments. They are called societies, but I think what you want is something more on the UN level.

So like an inter-soc governing body?

Wouldn’t that just make the whole point of making your own SOC null and viod, because you don’t have ultimate say?

I am not liking the idea of a global player run government. It just opens up too cans of worms in my opinion. Small scale in land grab areas perhaps, but not so it effects everything you do!

I am just saying I think governmental bodies already exist. I am sure there are alliances between societies and trade-agreement that we don’t know about.

If someone tried hard enough and got enough societies together we could see something like the UN on Calypso.

Gentlemen- we’re forgetting about our freelancing population
It is not a requirement in PE to join a soc, therefore IF a goverNment did exist it should include both society sectors and freelancers :wise:

Otherwise- this issue has been discussed at length previously and it is a good suggestion, but I fear that it would raise many problems that would need to be hashed out before hastily implementing it :girl:

In this case the freelancers are outside, above, below or not at all concerned by the government body.

They have no voice. Goverments are not concerned with the people that don’t contirbute to them unless they are really powerful.

I am not saying that it should be that way. I am just saying that freelancers like myself wouldn’t have unified front unless they formed a society of freelancers, but then they wouldn’t be a freelancer any more.

Vote me for head freelancer.

But the whole point of being a freelancer is that your free. Stick a governing body in there and what are you? a citizen?

Yes you can try to activly install a government, if you suceed what happens to those who don’t want to follow your government, your ideals and your way of life?

Do you banish them to the wilds or allow them into your towns, do you hike taxes on them for being an outsider. if they are treated just the same then why bother following you in the first place?

Wh owill elect it, who will challenge it, who will enforce it, who will ensure corruption and small mindedness doesn’t rule the day. Theres alot more to this than just saying ‘Oh I like this idea’.

You may detect a slight hit of hostility towards this idea, you’d be right. I’ve seen many ‘player-run’ governments quickly turn to bickering and arguements, banishments and death penalities. The bullies always won, then you either bent over and did what they wanted or you just disappear.
