Seems very ballsy. ill be watching the reviews on https://steam250.com/bottom100 . my bet would be PE will leave steam by august.
Tho I guess new players won’t know about the long history of shitty failed promises, money grabs [Moderated: Removed rule violation], not even mentioning the, on steam, much hated pay to win, or stealing via RCE PVP - Im almost certain all the people you (MA) fucked over, over the years, will leave negative reviews. And even if PE doesn’t get #1 due to old disgruntled players, new players will find out about all the bugs, bad UI, performance, second rate graphics and overwhelming bot presence pretty quickly themselves.
I mean, I guess I hope all my stuff goes up in value again due to new players but piling onto old resentments, recent trends leave me very much disillusioned.
Edit: of course the moderators edited the language… fine, some examples of “rug pulls” (better?) include: changing stats on items that cost people thousands of dollars between announcement and release (SWINE TWEN), (L) items (vehicle) being advertised as unL in web shop just this week (last?), changing item pull costs for mayhem multiple times, changing mayhem in general (you advertised/promised one thing, then changed things after the fact), resource mayhem, affiliate eggs, people cheating with the gems during RM you didnt punish much, cheaters and bug abusers in old mayhem format you didn’t punish at all, ComPet, Harvesting/housing, Voting (very old, sorry but still annoyed), the egg, space transport missions - just to name the tiny amount I can come up with off the top of my head.
Maybe the game is on its way to change / Maybe it will start offering afordable playble options - or not we will have to wait and see. Its a great idea but its all about how it gets implemented. Just lauching on steam without anything being changed way how the economy work - wont do any difference
In my opinion, EU isn’t ready.
And the internet will BAIN the crap out of it.
Can foresee an “Overwhelmingly negative” future… I think you’re underestimating the hoard mentality of the steam community. I’ve been there since it’s literal inception.
Remember, the first thing a LOT of people will do while downloading, is youtube entropia, and watch the biggest videos about our universe, which are almost all extremely negative and sarcastic in tone.
Hopefully at the least, it brings in tonnes of rose-tinted-glasses wearing kids who think they’ll get rich using moms card to gamble legally though, even if only momentarily.
I guess, even if we get an extra 500 people that’s like a 10-20% increase in playerbase already LOL so that would be a good thing I suppose.
Would’ve been smarter to get UE5 done first, and this makes me wonder if it’s even a priority anymore.
^
now others will know how amateurs we are.I am kinda embarrased but whatever.
oh dear, this is not going to be pretty.
While it is nice seeing EU on steam, i just hope has been well thought through.
The steam community are good, however they can also be honest to the point of brutality. Recently a game i used to play A LOT (over 6k hours) relaunched in what i would describe as a rushed and under delivering manner, result server pop drop from 1.5k to little over 400 in like 7 weeks. Also ofc game has been review bombed to hell and back as a result (and tbh they have solid points/reasons for bad reviews).
I hope EU can win people over, good luck.
We aint in Kansas anymore.

Hopefully that encourages to fix said bugs.
Freedom of speech, opinions and perspective. ?
It’s a new day.
Will help where I can.
Welcome to the 2025 EU! ?
Cool, hope we get a decent amount of new players.
That is usually not a problem. The problem is having them stay longer than an hour/half a day/a day/2 days/1 week/1 month.
I think it’s bad that they didn’t wait until September when the new starter area is launched, they kinda wasting potential new players now with current Thule imo. But Socrates did say that they didn’t wanna wait on entropia main discord.

Like not sure why the hurry, when game hasn’t been on Steam all these years..
Not to be overly pessimistic but it may do more harm than good to not have a “finished” product for the starter area. The new players who will later give reviews will do it based on current game, not future update.
It would give us a fighting chance at least, starting off new players with best way possible before UE5.
I don’t think the game (and new player experience) is ready for this, in my opinion not the best decision to do this now
inb4 steam reviews top rated comment: 0/10 I lost money, stay away
I agree, I think that integrating new players into the mid- high level economies through things like upgrading mission chains is necessary to give them incentive to play. I actually just made a suggestion thread with some ideas on how this could be achieved and how we could give new players markup and economic opportunity.
Perhaps share price and game population are MA’s biggest concern atm?
Quoting this just as an example of the type of comment I’m sure many others will make moreso than to pick on this suggestion in particular, I think folks are right to be skeptical that our foundations are solid enough to efficiently capture a large influx of attention, but it’s not because of the picayune particulars of the newcomer experience. It is rather that it has become much harder than it used to be to quickly gain a sense that Entropia, and participation within it, are worthwhile. It’s a much deeper issue of poor alignment between our fundamental value proposition in theory, the direction our development has trended toward in practice, and perhaps itself a consequence of this drift, the suboptimal calibration of our community toward those fundamentals and the tapering of our capacity to convert those fundamentals into a sound normative development direction via our discourse. In fact, I have come to believe that it is the other way around, that the frantic attempts of past development to linearize, simplify, streamline, prepackage, tutorialize, and purge every element from the newcomer experience which could possibly be perceived as an obstacle, sandbox, or temporary mystery, while they may indeed keep some newcomers around for a bit longer via their intended mechanism of action, ultimately isolate many more newcomers from appreciating the substantive value and importance of Entropia as glimpsed through the radical agency, creativity, self-determination, etc., which it affords at least in theory (and occasionally in practice as well).
By analogy, imagine if the marketing strategy of early PC manufacturers had been to “appeal to the television viewer market” even at the cost of isolating new PC users from the core concept of a PC, and all new PCs shipped with 5, and later 10, and later 50 hours of pre-programmed television shows which played in a linear fashion lacking user control before the machine would boot into the regular mode. This may have reduced the friction of learning to use a keyboard in some myopic sense, but only at the expense of isolating new PC users from the fundamental concept of the PC. Of course, this is not to dismiss attending to the newcomer experience generically; the graphical user interface was a great invention which made the power of the PC more accessible without significant compromise to and in good alignment with its fundamental value proposition. The mistake is to conceive of the newcomer as some sort of animal or alien, so wholly different from an Entropian that they exist in a bubble and can’t pick up on any cues regarding the quality of real Entropia. Their ability to discern this is of course more limited than that of an experienced player, but the misalignment we’ve fallen into is deep and colors the overall climate of activity and discourse, and newcomers pick up on it even as they are too inexperienced to label it.
Great news but a big help would be for MA to reach out to all the players that have taken a break from the game and give them a heads up. Expecially the ones who own all the empty shops around the game. It will be a great motivator to restock those empty selfs or put the shop up for sale at a profit.
