In our last Dev Blog, we talked about the In-Game Video Capture system we have been working on, which has now become Entropia Rewind.
Some of the best moments in Entropia Universe happen without warning: a surprise global, a rare loot, a last-second PvP escape. Too often, those moments are lost because recording wasn’t turned on.
Capturing highlights should feel as natural as playing the game itself. That’s why we’re introducing a new in-client video recording system with continuous background recording. The client always keeps the last 30 seconds ready, so when something epic happens, you can just click and save it - no third-party tools, no setup.
Once a moment is captured, you can jump straight into a built-in editing experience. Trim clips on a simple timeline, add text, emojis, transitions, and effects — all without leaving the game.
When the clip is ready, sharing is just as straightforward. You can export and upload videos directly to platforms like YouTube Shorts, with more integrations coming soon. From capture to edit to share, everything happens in one place - this is Entropia Rewind. We look forward to players using this new system in our upcoming release.
The game runs absolutely terribly as is, I’d rather not be forced to devote MORE system resources to auto capture video when I have zero intention of ever sharing my gameplay or highlight reels with anyone.
When it was mentioned the first time around me and some others were worried about it eating additional resources and according to @Socrates|Mindark back then it was supposed to be turned off by default.
I am afraid to think how many things will be broken after implementing this.
This must be vision for very long term, currently you can achieve way more with free tools and tools built by community without being very knowledgable. And these tools will receive update and evolve at a much higher pace than this tool can be upgraded and it’s not worth upgraded, again, why reinvent the wheel?
I hope very little time was used for this and I hope to see a periodically report with the adoption rate, videos posted through this and such.
join LG once and you realise anything to add to the game makes the game impossible to handle, we are running on 1995 architecture, its irrelevant if you have 200$ pc or 5000$, runs the same, 10 frames/sec, constantly blocking, desyinc and teleporting avatars.
Imagine mindark ever been playing the game as we do or even more, to deposit money.
Everything they released lately has been incomplete, full of bugs and inefficient (and lots of issues not fixed up till now). I dont trust their ability and their words too much.
30s just isn’t enough when lots of us would like to scroll back actual gameplay by YEARS…
Still, with things going south as they are, I guess I’d be tempted to relive even 30s in the past - those were the good times?
I suppose as we can save the gameplay this way, we will be able to relive 6 months into the past once we’ve got 6 months into the future…
Where would I configure my encoder settings? Depending on someone’s hardware it may make sense to play the with GPU on in-game, but use CPU to encode. Or other way around.
