Does MA test vid drivers???

The other day I was upgrading my nVidia driver, I found out that the ONLY reason I could not take part in the LG or go to Amethera was because the driver was faulty and caused me to BSoD everytime I stepped foot onto the new continent. The driver was version 66.92, I then upgraded to the newly supported driver MindArk says that works, version 77.72. Well it did fix the problem of not being able to hunt on Amethera, unfortunately it also created some side problems that I am guessing isn’t part of MindArks testing. I was trying to watch a movie on my machine…the video was grainy and blurry. Not sure what the problem was, I decided to try a different driver version, version 71.89 i think. Now my movies play correctly and I can still get to Amethera. The only thing I was wondering is, does MA test the drivers fully or just for functionality of PE? Oh yeah, and if anyone else has had these problems and not been able to figure out why…just call it free tech support

To answer all you wrote…No MA does no testing what so ever prior to a patch or VU

erm…you understand that MA dont write these video drivers yeah? :tongue2:

im confused what you mean by testing anything other than PE…

Of Course is MindArk testing PE on the most Common Grafik Cards to see if it works. Unfortunatly there is a Huge Range of Possible System Settings and its impossible to Test it on all Possible PC Setups

Compared to other Companys the Patches of Mindark are very Smooth integrated and have just minor Bugs. Thats very Impressive for this Kind of Branch! If a Lot of Users have a Problem with PE caused on Hardware Problems be sure it will fixed soon. If you have some kind of Exotic Hardware the Chance is lower. The Development of Vidio Cards is never Stagnating and Software Producer have to take Care of the changes all Time. So it will never be the Perfect Code who Support all and Everything but i think MA does a good Job fitting this almost

I may not a Supporter of all Ingame Mechanics but from the Technical Side Pe is extremly well Coded now and Patches Cause less bugs.

I dont think that MA would worry themselves with video drivers working for anything but PE. They pick the drivers that work best for the game regardless if you can only see black and white (joke) for all the others things you do on your computer.

But it does seem that from reading other posts that the 71.89 driver works better out of game than the 77.72

Yes I understand MA doesn’t write the drivers, my question pertained to whether or not MA tests the nVidia and ATI drivers that are available. I guess full functionality of the driver needs to be tested by the user, appearantly nVidia doesn’t test for functionality either. I guess the easiest way to test for full functionality of the driver is to run dxdiag.exe to test directx and open any video file to check how video playback looks. This is how I finally found the right driver for my machine.
