I also had one VERY similar to your sky where a giant texture appeared. I only realised last weekend - it was the texture from the side of an axe.
This stuff generally happens to me during moments of “lag” when I say “lag” what I actually mean is that for some reason my hard disk light goes bezurk often when I try to use a shop keeper or bring up item stats or something like that. When its finished flashing often my graphics have gone mental
