Computer problems

I am having a problem since i ve changed my cd-rom writer to a dvd writer: my computer switch off, without any warnings: first the screen go black with a sound in the computer like if i had shut down the computer, the music (if there is one) is still playing, and 0.5 seconde after, the computer shut down complitely, and restart ? It happens every 2-3 hours.

I had already a problem before i changed the cd-rom writer, the screen went black with the same switch off sound , but 0.5 seconde later the screen was again on, without any complete shut down.
I ve change the power supply (450W, which is rather more than what is needed, since i got only one graphic card, an 60 Gp driver and the new dvd writer).

I do not know if my problem comes from the power supply (maybe not), the processor (not possible since music continue to play), the graphic card (probale ?) or the link between the cd-rom/dvd writer and the board.

As anyone a clue which could help me to resolve the problem, thank you.

I suspect that it could be your Motherboard if the same thing happened with different drives.

Have you checked in device manager to see if you have any conflicts?

I ve checked the device manager, and there is no conflict.

I was thinking that maybe the reset/power switch at the case connector JFP1 could be the problem, but it is not possible to dissociate those two connections (pin in commun).

Could you write down your system configuration(cpu, mainboard, graphics card etc.) and the OS you’re using?
Did you already try a fresh installation with all the newest drivers?

I had a simular problem awhile ago, when I switched a graphics card in a machine. The motherboard was sending too many volts to the card, resulting in a pc restart. Not sure if this is your problem, just thought id suggest it
What age difference is between your hardware? It could be a compatibility problem. Try a bit of fault finding, swap parts around and see if there is still a prob.

You got it: i ve received a new graphic card from Santa Claus, and now it is working quite well, this card can handle the high voltage of the motherboard.

over heating maybe?

make sure after 2-3 hours of play time your computer has enough fans to keep cool. sound like a heat issue.
