Im Just wondering where the Improvement is on the new Charakter Design Screen. It got a minor Graphic Boost and the Alteration Tool is unified but that not really mean its more Easy to use now. In fact i didnt found any Improvements or make my Char more unique as it was Possible with the Old one. No i just found out some Alterations my Char had can not made with the new one anymore. (I have a Eye Sieze i canāt Choose , a Hairstyle and a Hair Color)
Where are the (At least BASIC !!) Tattos
Im just curious if i overlooked something.
Help me to see the Improvement
Donāt make the mistake to think the avatar creation area is an added feature, its just a re-design of what was already there and because it was a big part of this VU, MA gave all players the chance to look at it and play with it - otherwise it would have been of no interest to anyone who already has an avatar.
I found that the new interface is much less precise than before.
The old ācrosshairsā were easier to use than the odd circular dial that is there now.
I believe marco stated that the character creation only offered a few more changes but that most character recreation was going to be left in game for those ppl wishing to persue the new beauty professionā¦
The hair choices during the initial creation is more limited now, as are certain skin and eye colors⦠but again, I think more choices will be available in game from the new stylistsā¦I also wondered about tattoos and either they will come in a new vu or else some1 will be able to open those skills with the new professions
I think tattoos should and will come as a skill in the beauty profession so donāt panic yet. I didnāt make any changes to my avatar which I think was the right thing since I got told I was cute at CP today! :silly2:
Anyhow so my views on the new process:
The story thing is good, I can some real potential for that style of ācut sceneā intro in the future after VUās especially when āeventsā occur :tongue2:
Its good to be able to view from lots of angles, as in game, however I ānearlyā got caught out by the camera being on the floor thing that makes it look like your head is too big. If you havnāt created your av yet and the head looks too big MOVE THE CAMERA UP (numpad 8) before making any adjustments!
Having the formal wear was great, however that supremacy armour is a pointless thing to include. Something of the more standard style would be far more usefull! The armour and underwear view was mainly what I used last time so why that had been replaced with a top and thong like pants, sort of confused me a bit.
The dynamic lighting was a good idea as a lot of areas have that now however the majority of Calypso is still under a fixed illumination. When the light kept changing like that I imagine it would have been very hard to determine skin and hair colour. There should have been an OFF option!
The avatar creation process is THE FIRST thing a new player seeās so MA are totally right to want to make it look nicer as an incentive to play. Unfortunately I donāt think having, in essence, a tabbed feature control box is a good idea at all. It was far better to have all the dials available at once, you just know where you are then and have the ability to adjust everything together.
In summary, Iād say stick with standard armour and underwear, include a light switch, move the camera up, keep the graphics style but lay all the dials out as before. This would of course obscure the background but instead of this, I think some sort of animation showing you being revived first where you can see the spaceship and everything and then overlay all the controls. No one ever said practical interfaces were pretty :dunce:

Iām not sure about this but it looks like something to do with the cameraās āfocal lengthā. Short focal lengths (0-28mm) distort an image, but allows you to squeeze more info into an image without having to zoom out too much.
It looks like when adjusting your head/facial features you automatically select the āheadā camera but when you zoom out you are warping/distorting the image. The more you zoom the more it will distort the image you see.
