More fun to get a pec each loot? Well perhaps not.
I’m trying to explain all this to myself, as much as anyone else, so bear with me. I think what I’m trying to say is that it’s not a case of the previous version being “better”, or “more fun”. It’s more a case of how amazingly not fun it is to loot nothing, followed by nothing, again and again. Now I know people say that this is ok, when you finally get a loot it will be big - I have yet to see this, perhaps I’m bugged (MA say not) but when I get a dozen mobs with no loot, the loot I finally get is invariably close to the lowest loot the mob can drop.
Frankly I dont care if it “balances out at the end of the hunt”. I want to have fun, not do double entry book-keeping.
If I go hunting with 200ped ammo and fully repaired armour and weapons. Hunt for a few hours with the feeling that it’s going bad, feeling pretty fed up about it but determined to continue (because people say you have to, and the big loot may be next). So I finish the hunt and return check decay, lets say 50 ped decay. Then I total up the loot in a TT, 300 ped total loot. Hmm, that means 50 ped profit. cool.
The problem with that scenario is that I just spend a few hours being unhappy, followed by an “oh, well that’s ok then” for like 30 seconds at the end of the hunt.
So to fully answer the question of was it more fun to loot a pec per mob, lets look at the same scenareo: Hunt for a few hours with fully repaired kit and 200ped ammo, hunt goes well, nothing special, no items, no globals, just a steady pec stream with the occasional bit of gold. Return to shop container tired but knowing a good evening of skilling has been accomplished. Check results in terminals and be surprised at the 50ped profit.
That scenareo has the same 30 happyness at the end, but the preceeding few hours are so much LESS annoying and frustrating. Neutral they may be, but I’ll take relaxed contentment over pissed off anxiety any day.
