Changing the Resolution!

Ok note to all mods I take full responsibility and understanding that it may cause risk of my account to be hacked as I seen a post that required input user/pass into shortcut.

I also like to ask if anyone does know it and causes a potential security risk you would pm the answer and not post on the forums for somone young and with less understanding may use it and cause risk to there account.

Lets just say I can stand any game off a pixle and for sure not off by 100’s pixles…

my LCD runs 1280x1024 and this game is streched like a women giving birth to twins.

You cannot change the resolution using the normal options available.
You cannot change the resolution using any fancy shortcut.
You cannot use a widescreen resolution, as PE does not support it.

Even if you did manage to find some way of getting to run in another resolution it would still not support widescreen, and it would probably be unstable.

I run PE on a LCD with a native res of 1900x1200, the only difference I notice when it switches to 1024x768 and stretches to fit the screen is that avatars are slightly bulkier.

Your effort, and the effort of everyone else looking for a widescreen mode is much better spent writing to support and asking them for it to be implemented.

My native screen res is also 1280x1024 and PE looks just fine when it scales up. Perhaps you should check your settings, it sounds like your hardware is doing direct scaling with no anti-aliasing or whatever.

Put simply, I forgot that PE ran in a resolution different to the native one of my screen until you reminded me, so it cant really be that bad.

Wait for the game to support multiple resolutions (not long to go now, VU 9 probably  ) or get a CRT for gaming, LCD’s are great but CRT still own the field for super serious gaming.

So PE will work with Anti-A on?

You can force it on at the driver level and it will work.
The only sideeffect of doing so would be a lower framerate, esp. in crowded areas. You would basically need a monster machine to maintain a stable framerate since PE doesn’t seem to handle crowd scenes and scenes with lots of objects in them in general terribly well :frowning:

No harm in trying though

You have the ATi Radeon x850XT?

I am running the ATi Radeon x800xt and it runs the game with so much ease its not funny (except crowded areas but thats just crazy)

My native res is also 1280x1024 on a 17inch TFT LCD with 12ms refresh
It displays PE with only the normal graphics glitches
Its not stretched or distorted at all, at least not noticably.

No fancy tinkering - nothing.
Throw the ATi catalyst control panel on your machine and you can force any settings you want, I can even make PE look like a Film Noir game

The resolution however is fixed.

Yeah Deathifier I just forced AA and it look looooooaaads better!!!

Wish I could run it at 1600x1200 though, ah well!

well if pe has a set res that means would have to be streched… I mean if the res pe uses less the 1280x1024..

PE uses a DX layer which is capable of reseting your graphics resolution. So the output is in 1024x768 no matter what your desktop is set too. Wehn you start it you may hear a ‘click’ thats your monitor because the graphics where just reselt and it momentarily lost signal

yeah but my lcd mins like 1280x1024 so anything under that gets streched even though lower res it has fit same length and looks really bad.

my monitor is 1280x800 and itd be kinda nice if the clientloader allowed to set resolution manually sigh

It would be nice if it could be set to run in windowed mode, but apparently that offers some advantage no one from MA seems willing to adequately explain.

yeah window mode be nice but like they would care. I don’t get this company at all. They force a set res I mean aint that a little odd? like old old games like diablo even the expantion had a res change I mean this is just odd.

Ok well heres another idea rather have. Is there way make so my LCD Samsung 710N or my other LCD Samsung 173s both 17inch 12ms or somthing like that not have to use the full screen like do what some laptops can when under res does not strech just does not use the full screen?
