Big Christmas Scavenger Hunt (for da noobs)

I would like to organize a big Christmas Scavenger Hunt for noobs. Similar to what Skam and others have done, but on a larger scale.

A few things need to be decided… when, where, and who mainly.

Which day would be best to do a big scavenger hunt for xmas?

  • Xmas eve eve
  • Xmas eve
  • Xmas day

Where should we have it?

  • Hades (its big, plenty of places to hide stuff)
  • Zychion (its relatively big, noobs all have the tp)
  • A field near PA

Lastly who? I will give 10 ped in items, or maybe much more if I can get more volenteers. If you wish to take part in this event, declare yourselves :slight_smile:

Once the when and where are determined, I’ll let the who know via PM.

The only chink I can forsee in this event would be for someone who claimed to be a donator (and therefore had pre-knowledge), to start taking stuff before we let the noobs know to look. With this in mind, please show some maturity. To fight against these thieves we could have it on TI?

I have thought about one hunt like this myself actually, but you posted it first, so i guess your hunt will be the official hunt :P..

First of all;

Where- Hades (a town, might be big but there is a lot of opportunities)
When- Christmas day-night (not christmas eve, since to many is celebrating)

I am in I got rid of a load of stuff today at PA but I will see if I can find more in storage :slight_smile:

I like hades would have done it today but unless organised its a waste of time.
I dont mind when boxing day night would be better for me I have alot of travelling to do over xmas,

But Would really enjoy doing another scavenger hunt :slight_smile: If I can make it along you can count me in :slight_smile:

I’ll also give something, that is if I don’t work the day it’s on and if it’s not in a real busy town (56k connection).

Hades is usually empty for the most part. It used to be a MAD lag center because of all the buildings, but MA fixed that :slight_smile:

I’ll help out. Perhaps rather than try to have it on Christmas or Christmas eve, since many people have plans, we could always have it on Dec 23rd. Thats a Friday. The biggest problem we’re going to encounter is the time zone difference. Some people will miss out. 5pm Friday EST is 10pm MA Time. We’ll have to figure that out.

As long as its organized, I’ll gladly donate some of the various armor pieces, etc that are littering my storage. I’m sure with the right persuasion, we can get VF, Lykke and School of Lootius to help out as well.

[B]You “go” Ghandi … great idea, and count me in as well, but I would rather bring the goodies with me instead of donating 10 PED so that I can have fun hiding things … and I hope you DO pick Hades, because it’s a big city with lots of hiding places. Joins “Rotten Ice” in the Hades chant. The only glitch I see in announcing what city and when, is that people would start hanging out in that city waiting to see some unusual activity from a group of people. You’ll always have those who won’t play fair.

In doing the “Xmas Gift Giveaway” at Port Atlantis last night … we kept in mind what was given and to whom … the reason Jetboy and I picked the “Opalo Rifle and M2100 Pistol” is because they are “TT items” … this way, it’s an item that won’t be sold at auction for higher, and hopefully not to new players just off the ship who don’t know that it’s a tt weapon. But again … there are always those who don’t play fair … I just don’t want to give them an opportunity to do so.

Suggestion … if anyone does a “giveaway” without going through the hiding method, it’s advisable to have your partner, or partners on Skype or some audio program so that you can ask each other if so-and-so came to you for a gift. Jetboy and I were on Skype at Port Atlantis, and when a Freelancer walked up to us, we asked each other if we gave a gift to that person or not before proceeding with the trade. I will be adding to Jetboy’s post about our experience last night in picture format, so look for that as well.

how bout doing it on TI , hide stuff and have people play a kind of run and dodge with people shooting at them , only low power pistols allowed . Might be fun :smiley:

Yes and if there is people waiting for us to hide the items, we might have a problem of them following us waiting for the drop.

Yes, yes. To be clear, I’m not taking people’s donations… I want people to be there to hide their items. :slight_smile:

If anyone has any idea on how to prevent foul play, it would be helpful.

best way to prevent foul play is to either place the items before anyone arrives or do it in pvp1 :laugh:

If iam free ill drop by and unload some junk from storage

If we can get enough people dropping stuff then it should be hard for people to follow the only problem is early hunters looking before stuff is dropped, or even get a few poepl to just run round a decoys :), at hadesham its a big enough city with 4 tps if we were to offer in such a big area the only other option is amethra somewhere as thats PVP but problem is there isnt many places to hide stuff then :frowning:

or if its on xmas the space station should be open how about doing it there ???

Having it on the spacestation would keep poor people out wouldn’t it? Unless someone offers free rides :slight_smile:

I will help out. Maybe a way to do it all to avoid cheaters would be to set up a temp society of the donators and have them stationed throughout the area with scanners. That way ppl can skill on scanning at the same time as keeping it real. The society channle could be used like a police ban to let other society members in a certain area know who is heading which way towards which loot items placed. sounds kind of indept but makes it a lil fun and adds a lil role playing back to this rpg.

just my two peds. i would think it would be better to use this as a sign up and then talk about the location in game. that way no one dose jump the gun on you guys :D.

why don’t you just go hide the stuff and then tp to PA and shout it out :slight_smile: then no one knows where you have been, just say its alot of stuff laying around in hades and people can go there and have it if they find it :slight_smile:
I will talk to my soc and see if we can donate something bigger than a opalo, maybe something uber lol, like a Mk II or something :slight_smile: some scopes and axes
