I have seen lots of awesome avatar pics… so is it really this bad?
I gave in and logged in. Made a good looking avatar, much better then the last one and took me only a fraction of the time. My only complaint is that there is still no love for color blind people
Nobody ever thinks about us. I’m red green color blind and of course I want a ginger avatar with green eyes. I tried my best, but I’m probably wrong. :scratch2:
Can you do makeup in avatar creation ??
The performance issues are the really lame part I’d say. Much worse performance than before.
This is the second time Im logging in after an avatar recreation process and it´s the second time my reaction is WTF???..
How hard can it be to make sure the avatar looks exactly like we made it? How can it be so different ingame compared to how it looks on screen when I´m creating it?
What are you doing?? Someone care to explain why this happens, the difference?
Because EU is dynamic.
I like where they were going with this update but they still need to do major tweaking to the avatar creation room. As many have complained, you don’t look the same in the room as you do coming out and it’s mainly due to the horrid lighting model in the room. I remember last avatar update I stood outside of Corinth in the sun so I could get full sunlight and proper lighting as I adjusted things, I could also put on and take off clothing and armor that was in inventory and judge looks and could spin the camera in all angles instead of just zoom and rotate around a fixed point.
I got most of what I wanted through this first recreation today but the skin color system is total crap. I wanted more of a milk chocolate color, instead I got dark chocolate. They fixed some clipping issues with clothing like the IFN shirts and hats so good job on that at least.
Here’s hoping that next week they’ll fix the creation room lighting and other issues like how most clothing is super illuminated or awfully flat in color/texture even at night.
- Avatar display and lighting, while in creation mode is vastly different to when we enter the game!
- Avatars appear to have gained weight when we enter game.
- Avatars appear WIDER than when in creation screen.
- Avatars have NO FRAME OF REFERENCE at creation screen. (We should be able to toggle currently equipped items to check for errors at creation.)
- With no height/width reference… ingame wielding a Maddox 4 now… I look like a pudgy hobbit!
** THE AVATAR CREATION SYSTEM MUST HAVE OPTION TO SHOW ALL CURRENTLY EQUIPPED ITEMS SO WE CAN JUDGE HOW WELL OUR NEW AVATAR LOOKS/COMPARES BEFORE COMMITTING ANY CHANGES!
-
All old clothes have been tampered with/split seams are showing/textures have opposites maps on halfs/etc. (That atrox Textured Paris Jacket seen below has UNBLENDED textures for Forearms, Upper Arms, Front left, Front Right, and a heavy split in the back = all with uneven disjointed textures and visible seams!!)
-
Glasses/Goggles clip with hair interweaving within.
-
Urban Nomad Black Pants are cut in half (gap is enhanced when a Skirt is worn with it (as seen below)).
-
Cyrene Imperium Armor Helmet has NO mesh/texture!
-
Next Isle METAL Armor now looks PLASTIC!
-
All clothes have collisions/clipping when walking.
-
All old textures are duller and darker (Carabok looks brown?!).
-
All old colors are messed up.
-
Female avatar walk is very… unelegant.
-
The bum protrudes when walking… unrealistic.
-
WHITE hair (seen below) regardless of atmospheric lights (compare it to the wings) appears dull and grey.
-
Seems they have some new object “lighting” issues as well.
-
Also reflection maps are now diffused/matte?!

You know why I am wearing that mask? Because I now look like a Frodo Baggins - I am hiding the shame!!!
Untested VU releases: Gung-ho & Gangnam Style truely applies here!
/Not happy!
PS. Are you folks hiring? Can I be on your QA/testing team??!! I will ACTUALLY test things!
Terrible job on the mesh rigging of clothing and armor. Jeans are totally messed up now, they look very tight and they don’t fit properly over shoes anymore. I bought jeans and NOT skinny jeans fgs.
The black nomad shirt looks shiny now, like silk or velvet. I do not like. ![]()
Also, even the lowest setting for thighs makes them still way too thick for an average less muscular and slim shape, same with the butt. Looks ridiculous and unproportional, and even worse after entering the game.
Well…MA… Whay dont you do some tests on your up-dates, we players has asked after it for a looooong time.:scratch2:
The avatars themselves are ok, not as good as the EVE ones, but ok. The major issue is the effect on all the clothes and textures! I have already submitted my support case about the polished chrome fuck up! There are hundreds more. I hope they can fix this.
I was overall pretty pleased with the avatar creation options, and to a lesser extent the final result. My major criticisms:
-
Put the “natural” skin & hair colors ADJACENT to each other in the color palette slider; have red between strawberry-blonde and brown, for example, so that it’s easier to select a more natural shade of hair color, and put the “punk” colors off to one extreme; i.e. blue, pink, green, etc… Red was right between blue/purple & pink for some reason, making it very difficult to choose a natural shade of red, except for ridiculous fire-engine or Ferrari red hair.
-
Provide the same high lighting in the avatar creation room as an avatar would get in a well-lit game environment, so we can see the TRUE color of our skin & hair…but mostly skin. It’s impossible to choose a paler, more fair complexion. Even reading people’s complaints about the uber-tans on their new avatars, I took that into consideration and selected a pale skin–and even then, I look like I have a spray-tan. :yup:
-
I found body dimensions–especially the lower half of the body–to be inaccurate. What I thought looked good in the av creation screen ended up gaining about 25% of weight in the game-world. And I look like I’m about to give birth while I’m running, my thighs/legs are splayed so far apart!
But other than that, I thought it was pretty good, the resulting avatars can be quite detailed and life-like if the player takes the time to do a good job of it.
Yep, near all my clothes broken, even old school looted ones without any textures ![]()
I’d also suggest having color presets for natural colors (light brown, brown, blonde, dark blonde, red, ginger for hair colors for instance) or a RGB input. There are color blind people that play this game you know, and so the way the colors are done now, we’re pretty much screwed. I’m hoping I got a light ginger color for my avatar but I don’t think I did.
Not that bad after first shock
I also was first shocked but honestly- the avatars look so much better now, the eyes are amazing!
the new features allowe us to have uniqe avatars..
and that we get a 2end free make over on the avatars just show that MA saw the bugs and agreed that not all worked so great as it was planned.
I think after a few fixes- its still a great update.
I happy for!
here is my avatar- dont think it turned all out as i wanted but in total i think i look fine..

I’m hoping for another crack at avatar recreation.
Admittedly it was a mistake to try and do it last night when I was tired, but really, no way of matching your avatar’s height to what was previous, ditto for skin colour? Also what looked good in the pre-set clothing options looks awful in my avatars own clothes.
I could perhaps forgive the problems with skin colour and height if it wasn’t for the fact I’ve told them at previous avatar recreations that it was an issue via support cases. Do MA never ever learn?
What I have at the moment is a mon-frigging-strocity of an avatar.
Yeah, I am also pleased with this update ( the color skin could do better but glad we have another chance and maybe MA fix it)
Here is new me:

I know of a few female avatars that have complained that their boobs have gotten bigger. I fail to see the problem :scratch2:
In addition to wanting some assistance for color blind people (color presets with the color name! and/or RGB input) I’d like to see the height bar adjusted to tell you what the height is! Just a random bar to control the height with no way of judging what that height is going to be is kind of silly. :scratch2:
Sorry, I can’t read the whole thread, it’s a busy one; does this mean we can postpone the first change (as I’m doing) and get 2 chances after the patch? Anyone know please?
Thanks. Boo.
