ARMOR: jaguar or ghoul?

ok im thinkin of what armor to get next, i know that there isnt full jag yet so it would be a jag/bear mix. but i realy like the stats of ghoul, can someone hook me up w/ the decay on each (the real decay) what the full price would be for each, and maybe some personal experiences… thnx and any help is very much appreciated and repped.

ghoul is AWESOME

twice the decay of shadow BUT also VERY high protection…

a full set will cost you 1500ped or so…compared to 13k+ for angel or 23+ for shadow…

so its a lot cheaper!

the animal series of armors all sux bad for economy decay/protection imo.

is animal series worse then ghoul? and by how much by exact figures or maybe just an estimation.

i bought a full set of ghoul from auk…

decay is only SLIGHTLY worse than jaguar…
between that and the low price (relatively) plus the high protection… id say ghouls a DAMNED fine buy, better than most in animal series (ive never worn tiger though)

what armortype u are having at the moment and what kind of mob types u hunt? if u don’t need cold protection etc.

why not Nemesis and some plates to it, 5A?
i guarantee, economywise, hell lotta better choices than ghoul or jag.

youre right, better cost-efficiency… but ghoul has better protection as far as my favorite mobs go  so ill stick to it.
ive never been worried about a few peds, whether it be dropping them for free in trade to have a nice, round number, or high decay costs, etc…

besides, i DO plate it, i have 4 different sets (and 3 armor sets + a few spare parts) depending on what im hunting…

I can recommend this combination also

How much does Jaguar armor decay?

most decaying armor in game, not too good considering it doesn’t offer much protection compared to the others in its decay class.

I’ve often wondered this myself…not with comparing Ghoul to Jaguar but rather Ghoul to Nemesis plus various plates for the situation as mentioned by a few folks already.

Protection wise Ghoul has very nice broad stats, more impact protection and comparable Stab and Cut as compared to Nemesis.

Here are the exact stats:

Name Durability Stab Cut Impact Penetr Shrapnel Burn Cold Acid Electric

Nemesis Durability: 3000 Stab: 15 Cut: 15 Impact: 15 Penetration: 7.5 Shrapnel: 0 Burn: 15 Cold: 0 Acid: 0 Electric: 0

Ghoul Durability: 2600 Stab: 14 Cut: 15 Impact: 25 Penetration: 5 Shrapnel: 2 Burn: 18 Cold: 15 Acid: 1 Electric: 17

Decay for Ghoul is supposedly comparable to Ghost armor or slightly worse..someone also said double Shadow..but I don’t know if that is true since I have no idea about Shadow decay.

Initial Costs Nemesis armor you can get for maybe 1000-1200ped, Ghoul is slightly more expensive at around 1500ped - So Nemesis would be cheaper..but then add the various plate sets to get the protection Ghoul offers..Electric, Cold, Additional Burn, Impact (10 more here) and you have a far greater initial outlay..plus have to have those extra plate sets to match your needs.

True Ghoul is higher decay, but I’ve yet to see any solid numbers from anyone..say on an all melee weapon hunt (My primary) with 10 1x0 axes. How much would it decay, and how much would Nemesis decay in the same situation and mob?

It’s likely that Ghoul’s decay is higher, and that would mean your costs over time WOULD be more then Nemesis plus plates (Like 5A) but how much more? Plus the initial outlay WOULD be lower for plain Ghoul armor…AND you could STILL plate the Ghoul for even more protection.

I’m still undecided, but thankfully (Or unfortunately based upon your viewpoint) my PED card is low enough that I don’t have to make this choice yet and can keep using my Pixie, Goblin and Rascal armor with the 4C plates I own (Soon to be 2A as well) - I could buy Nemesis or even Ghoul sets now..but would be nearly wiped out PEDs and items wise to do it..not worth it to me so far.

Hope this helps and didn’t confuse the issue more.

I’d love to see solid stats on decay also based upon my example, but I doubt it’ll be forthcoming.

Take care!

the way it works is that the durability measures the amount of punishment the armor can take before it breaks, thus a 6k durability armor will decay half as fast as a 3k durability armor. Not neccesairly cost half as much to repair after a hunt though since tt will probably be higher on it as well.
Ghoul has a durability of 2600 and a total tt of 410ped
Nemesis has a durability of 3000 anda total tt of 213.75ped
That means the nemesis will last longer than the ghoul, in addition to being much cheaper to repair. If you go out on a hunt that decays your armor for 500 points of durability it will cost you 1/6 of the total tt of nemesis, or almost 1/5 of the total tt of ghoul. I.e 35.6ped for nem or 78.8ped for ghoul.
That is assuming the mobs hit an equal amount of times on all armor parts though which they do not. They hit you in the harness most oftenly, then arms/thighs then shins/gloves/helm.
If you really need the acid, cold and electric protection I guess you have no other choice than to go with the ghoul. But if armor decay is a significant part of your hunting costs than you should go for nemesis no doubt.

[edit]here’s roth’s armor decay chart http://213.199.120.59/Armorchart/armor%20decay.htm
it doesn’t contain any of the new armors though but as you can see armor decays more the less durability/tt they have.

I’d say Nemesis owns them both

so im getting nemesis here, but i cant stand the halloween colors  they make me want to be sick + its everywhere. maybe i buy back my vigi and plate that it woul only be a little less protection of neme but cooler colors. :silly2: i think w/ 5b’s it would have 64 all together adding stab/cut/impact… dang im really confused.

For all people wondering about decay and what is/what means decay.

Get the full TT value of the Harness and it’s durability.
Divide the Durability by the full TT of the harness and you will get the Decay of the harness (let’s call it DH).

For Thigs & Arms decay, you have DH * 2/3.
For Shins, Gloves & Mask, you have DH * 1/3.

So, to get the decay of each part you need only the full value of the harness.

P.S. Trakkur, get a full set of Viking and go hunt some feffoids. Then get a full set of Kobold or even Rascal and hunt again feffoids. Compare the decay.

I am not 100% but it looks to me Jaguar is more decaying than ghoul. Also it has a bit more protection (1.07% for usual mob, 1.08% for combat) in some fields but much less in other (amethera mobs, like lets say protecting against half number compared to ghoul). The ghouls’s protection against amethera mobs is definitely superior compared to nemesis for double decay. If u are using an usual fap (fap 90 or emt 2600), u may consider saving fap decay when investing in armour decay becouse u will have to fap less. However, is a numbers game (as someone once said). The idea is that u will have a good overall protective armour which u can use in almost all scenarios. Voted ghoul.

Hmm, i think the armors you wear has to fit your needs so i got two armor sets for myself, Pixie and Nemesis.

The main thing i look for in the armor it its decay, i dont care if it prevents 30 damage, 60 damage or 1k damage if it has a big decay its out of my choice
Nemesis is by me a great mid price armour for hunting because i try to keep as far away as possible from the mob, and to avoid as many hits as possible, now, if i get hit, that is where armor comes in.

If the creature that hits me is at low hp when it came close to me, i use pixie, because the decay is really superb, and creature will live for only few more seconds, so i dont need to worry about dying. When i kill it, i easily restore the health to 90% with FAP-5 (its slow, low heal, but it is more efficient than others, ignoring Adj,Imp or Mod fap, cuz if i had those i surely wouldnt worry about decay.)and than continue hunting, so my decay is at least 3 times less than if it would be if i used nemesis in the same situation, so lets compare:

Hypotethicaly lets say that “DA MOB” does 32 damage and you kill it after it hits you 2 times…(It hits you only 2 times because you have lowered its health much allready before it even got close to you, so you kill it after it hits you 2 times)

Using NEMESIS: Total protection is 45,of all that,only 31 is prevented,1 is not prevented, so 2 hits would cost you: 2 x (31 x 0.2150) = 13.33 pec decay

Using PIXIE on the same mob.. Total protection is 12,12 is prevented,20 not prevented, so,2 hits would cost you 2 x (12 x 0.0250) = 0.6 pec decay, but you lost 40 hp, so you use FAP-5 3 times for max heal, and you heal 30 damage, and loose 3 pec to decay, and 10 damage is restored naturally, so resulting decay with pixie is 3.6 pec!!

Now compare that to lets say 250 mobs killed the same way. :wise:
Nemesis has decayed 250 x 13.33 = 33.32 PED
Pixie + FAP-5 has decayed 250 x 3.6 = 9 PED

So, with pixie and FAP-5 you would loose 24.32 PED less than with nemesis in the same situation.

Of course, you cant use pixie on mobs dealing 40+damage because you would die, but that is when you use nemesis, and if you get a global, you may profit.

Thinking before hunting can really result in profit, so dont use tough, powerfull armors on mobs that you can handle with the most basic Pixie and FAP-5 :smoke:

i once asked jove if he thought the decay on ghoul was worth it. he said no.
jag decay also looks REALLY bad. i think the reasons for the different situation with armors, loot, etc in recent times is cuz back in the day, MA incorrectly estimated how much decay/money theyd need to sustain themselves. so they throttled back on the loot and added armor to the game wtih higher decay. not hard to figure out =D

fapping isnt bad. nothing wrong with flipping that fap. everytime you whip out your fap and click your mouse, thats a chance for a skillgain, that you would NOT be taking if you were armor plated to the Nth degree. besides, you gotta spend the money somewhere. some say, high decay armor with its awesome prot means savings on fap decay.

according to who? the ppl running around with piece of shit fap83’s? fap decay is only an issue if you have a lame fap =P

the solution is to use ALL economical gear, not just some, and youll be ok. if your armor is not completely ideal for your chosen mobs, that means youre gonna have to click that fap a bit, which makes for more skillgain on dex and agility and intel and whatever. oh darn, more skillgain.

after all, lets say you run out hunting feffoid wearing kobold and full 5D’s (like i do, absolute best platform for feffoids and good enuf for most thorifoid). this is the best arrangement for cold dmg you can get basically. youll be ok. but, what if you were just wearing rascal? would wearing rascal magically make you get hit by mobs more often? no.

so forget all these bullshit theories and far-out concepts and stick with what works. use economical stuff that everyone already knows is good. the mobs dont care how much your gear decays.

for weaker mobs, fap50. for mid level mobs that hit for no more than 50-60, ek2580. for bigass mobs, fap110. ya get what ya pay for, and your mileage may vary, but im using ALL low decay equipment, even my gun and lasers, and im making a profit during the times i dont break even. ive been lucky enuf to lose on like 3 hunts in the past month =D

one more idea that blondie drilled into my head when i was a noob.. evade skill doesnt decay. never get so wrapped up in money that you forget the idea is not to get hit to begin with =D :wise: :wise: :wise:

That all is VERY true, old tricks are the best tricks, but lately im exprimenting on wearing no armor at all, and only reliying on a good ranged weapon, which could bring a mob down before it hits me.

Its not that i care very much will i loose or gain peds, since i play this game for fun, but i just like finding ways how to save as much money as possible.

And i agree on that one that jaguar is nothing special of an armor, maybe just looks cool, but there is one thing on it that i truly adore, and that is its weight,i bet the full set will weight like 2.5-3 kg

But if it makes someone happy to attack slay daikibas with ML-35 :sniper: and full plated shadow or chronicle… go ahead, its your money, not mine.

i love no armor hunting… its a rush to say the least knowing that its just you against that mob. and yes i agree now that im not going to get either ghoul or jag, probably a set of vigi because i like to hunt atrax and such. and crys um can you give me some tips on your setup  i mean the only times i ever profit hunting is axing the crap out of those mobs. so um like i know you probably use a good gun and for finishing up something a bit smaller but any more insight on it?
