Another Oddity

Been seeing a few different mobs rendered (or not) like this near Fort Argus.
Is this a new bug?

“Feature” since some VUs

Mobs, Weapons, Furniture even your friend can become black..

maybe dowload the newest graphic drivers… im sick of downloading the nvidia drivers every week, the old ones let me play all my games perfectly…while the new ones make any 3D game to a 15 fps adventure…

i dont think its a driver issue… just PE being, well, PE

None of the above Im afraid.
Just me who engaged my hyperblaster and made a black hole outta that poor bird.
My bad.

ive had that bug since i started playin, so its normal, not just vu

All you have to do to trigger this bug is:

  1. find a mob
  2. move away from the mob
  3. as the mob starts to fade away, move back towards it quickly
  4. return to the mob
  5. the texture will be darkened, or black.

On a related note of bitchery:

PE keeps a SEPERATE copy of each texture on each mob in memory. Even though it’s the same file.

Nice programming guys.

Now wonder the game increases in memory so badly. I have had it hog like 600mb of memory in the past. Used to be able to check it while playing on my 2nd screen, as it was a good way to tell when the game was slowing down badly.

Do a reboot of the game, and it lasts for a while. Give the game 30 minutes or so, and it would reach 600mb more often than not.

In my opinion, very very bad memory release programming in this game, and could well be a cause of some major lag fests going on. :frowning:

yea. If they actually modded the textures individually for each mob that would justify the use.

But they don’t.

Oops.

Which is why when theres 20+ mobs on the screen, PE starts to resemble Port Atlantis filled with dial-ups.

The only reason I could see for them doing this is that the loot information is kept in the same place… shrug…and thats why it needs to be kept unique for every individual mob…

old bug, it used to be also that umbranoids were all black, i thought they were suppose to look like that, i was shocked when i saw them with texture first time Ă–____Ă–

Its happened to me alot mainly with armax herds like when we round up 20 or so of them typically its bull also. its just a texture rendering issue, not card specific nor a real issue just a nusance.
