Animal Taming must be the slowest skill ingame at the moment.
Unlocked it in this VU at 200 whip… got my first skillgain at 280 whip…
I have whipped Atrox’s, Ambulimax’s and down to Turp’s and Snables… the one that gave me my first skillgain was a Tripudion…
Is it depending on what mobs you whip (of course at some degree), I can imagine that bots and mutants don’t gives any skillgains (anyone disagree?)
I’m still in the middle of trying to unlock it 
What are your other Melee skills if you don’t mind me asking? I currently am at 375 or so whip, LB is at 1670. Light Melee and Heavy Melee as well as Inflict Melee Dam I have no clue about (am at work).

Animal taming is slow, but it has allways been slow.
Whip skill is now much faster then it was before and therefore animal taming seems slower in comparison.

Yes, and not sure if every “animal” gives skillgain in it neither.
With “animal”, I mean mobs that we get “scan animal” skill from when we scan those. Same is for zoology when using whip.

I guess you are right here. I can’t gather sweat anymore, so I never could test this. (Sweat gathering skill is amazing 12)
I remember that the “Scan mutant” and “Genetic” skill was bugged before. When you tried to scan mutants, you gained “scan animal” skill. Maybe it is still bugged for some areas?
Anyway, I also think that you don’t get animal taming skill when hunting rippersnapper’s. Haven’t tested it latly, so I can’t confirm it. Anyway, I think you gain scan animal skill when scanning them. Is it possible to sweat them?
Are they counting as animals or will we soon see new: “Scanning fish” and “Taming fish” skills? :silly2: :laugh:

One way you can tell if you can gain AT from a certain mob is kill it, and if it says “Your taming attempt failed.”, you can gain AT from that mob… if it doesnt, then you cannot

hmm I got around 250 in Whip and AT is not unlucked yet.. I guess it depends on other skills too. Like Zoology where I only got 90.
I’m at 1150 whip, and no taming yet. My LB is at ~2600, SB and PF ~160.
Other skills? No idea. Am at work. Will update later.

No. What he meant was that IF you get that message from a MOB, it means you could potentially gain experience in your taming skill.
Well… umm… I got that message from everything, including bots and umbras…
