An upgrade for the TT weapons?

Well, I didn’t find a Forum specifically for suggestions (unless there’s a sticky somewhere for it, which I didn’t find), so I’ll write this here.

I have been using the new TT weapons all the way since VU 7.7, when they were released. They are all very nice and efficient, and thus I am thankful that they have been released. Anyway, I have found that switching from them to any other weapon in the game is a quite unpleasant thing, since the stats on most other weapons are very low.

I’ve been using the TT’s EnBlade-A for quite some time now. My level in longblades is a little over 2000 right now. The EnBlade-A’s have been very efficient and easy to break even with, but they have a major drawback, which only makes it useful for minor mobs: it’s reload time. I’ve tried switching to other weapons, but once again tasted the bitter money loss. Before anybody thinks I am going to suggest an UBER item, I am going to write my idea (this is merely an example of what I think would be a fair upgrade to an EnBlade-A):

EnBlade-B:
Same damage, hit and crit chance as the A version, but with the range of the levels on which it grants a bonus from 1000 to 2000 in Longblades and from 260 to 520 in Inflict Melee Damage. Reload time of 2 or 2 and a hal seconds (instead of those pesky 3 seconds).

That’s it. Basically the same stats as the A version, but faster. Their TT price and decay would have to be proportional to the EnBlade-A if not the same (the same decay and price would be for the best). It would basically be an upgrade for people who have already maxxed out the EnBlade-A’s stats and want an upgrade to the weapon. I think it wouldn’t be too unbalancing and that the item wouldn’t become uber in any way.

Maybe they could make further upgrades like an EnBlade-C or D with upgraded damage and same speed as the B, but I would already be more than grateful if they only considered my idea of the EnBlade-B.

Since I am not a ranged user, I don’t know what the drawback in the Opalo is. I think it doesn’t have anyone to be honest, since ranged weapons can have amplifiers, so honestly I think begginer melee users are crippled due to the fact that they don’t have such an advantage. Ranged users may simply put an amplifier on their Opalo, and they already have a fitting weapon to their skills. Melee users must bear with that ridiculous 3 seconds reload, or buy a totally unefficient weapon.

Please post your opinions on if this idea is plausible/absurd, and any other suggestions. And please don’t think I posted this, and suggested the Longblades and Inflict Melee Damage ranges like that, because it would be convenient to me. I’ve already had this idea way before reaching this stats, and decided to wait until the VU 7.8 came forth to be sure they wouldn’t implement any upgrades on those weapons. Any other level ranges on them would be fine, since, as I said, it’s just a suggestion. I already talked to other begginer melee users as well, who wished/thought that there would be a B version, but there unfortunately isn’t.

There are going to be blades as you describe, but it will be a limited crafted item. At the moment, the TT weapons are totaly unbalanced vs all the other weapons. But there will be allot new weapons, so i think it will be changed. Untill then, just use the TT weapon, and hunt the smaller mobs. (i do that too)

What’s up with all these limited items? Now everything that is released is Limited. Another little economy scheme to make even more money? Isn’t it enough to be forced to be either bored to death with the pace skilling up goes with those TT swords, or buy another weapon (which is inefficient) and be ripped-off of everything you have everytime you go hunting, or waste even more money trying another profession? Really, I wrote a topic encouraging people that it was possible to be succesful in this game, but I hadn’t realized that after some time in it you were forced to make this stupid decision. Melee users get more and more crippled with the adoption of this senseless permanent decay fever MA is having. Maybe they should turn their eyes from their pockets a little, and give their players some more opportunities, rather than taking them away by nerfing weapons that were efficient earlier (i.e. axes) and giving them weapons that force them to chose what is mentioned above. I really don’t believe they were losing any money with the axes earlier, neither will they if they make the upgrades for the TT weapons non-limited.

Sincerely, a disappointed player.

Huskie this is the same for rifles as well, after you’ve maxed out the tt Opalo ie. the skill bonuses say ‘not anymore’ and your stats are 10/10 hit and critical it is very efficient.
BUT then all ALL other rifles still give me (1100 rifles) 0.7 hit and 2.6 critical - so they are very inefficient.

It would be rather good to have the weapons ‘grouped’ by skill from ‘easy’ to use to ‘hard’ to use and this would be reflected in the stats you get with the weapon based on your skill lvls.
Everyone could still ‘use’ any weapon they wanted but if they wanted to be efficient with it they would have run through a range of guns not just jump straight to the biggest damage gun.

I read in another thread a guy had over 3k in rifles and his hit/critical stats were roughly double mine. So, I know even at over 3k rifles I’m going to be horribly inefficient with any gun other than the Opalo.

The same principles apply for blades as far as I can see.

So for me I’ll skill and hunt on small/mid-lvl mobs with an amped Opalo and buy a JMkII for fun and teamhunts as the DOT with the bigger guns is (after testing) much higher, even with the misses and low damage hits but the efficiency is HORRIBLE.

Al.

Exactly. That would be another great idea. The way it is now, you have all stats equal, no matter if in a Jester-D1, or an Ancient FireForge 8800. I simply cannot understand this. If MA wants to make the game to be closer to real life everytime, they would have to take into account that every different weapon, no matter if melee or ranged, has different sizes/weights and many other stats, which would make all of the weapons need different skill niveaus. Being as effective with a Jester-D1 as you are with an Ancient FireForge 8800 is plain simply senseless. Since the Ancient FireForge 8800 is a bigger weapon, with bigger firepower, it would have a bigger recoil, too, for example, than a Jester-D1 and thus a person who can handle a Jester well, shouldn’t handle the FireForge as well. They are different weapons.

As for being exactly the same with ranged weapons, I don’t quite agree. With ranged weapons you can put an amplifier on it and then upgrade your amplifier as you see fit. What can we, melee users do on our EnBlade-A’s to improve it, even if just a little? Absolutely nothing. And hunting with an amped Opalo, is nearly not as tiresome and boring as to hunt with a weapon with low damage and a ridiculous 3 seconds reload time. Turns out that MA left a “gap” for melee users, since they can’t put an amplifier in their TT swords and no upgrades are available. That is why I suggested the EnBlade-B that way, and once again state that it would be a fair upgrade, too.

Untill then, just use the TT weapon, and hunt the smaller mobs. (i do that too)

Hunting small mobs (cornundacaudas, caudaterguses, older snabblesnots) with the TT swords is already difficult enough. The 3 seconds reload makes you be hit much more, which means you have lots of healing costs. If only the reload time was faster as I suggested in the EnBlade-B’s (which would be an upgrade for the A version, not a replacement) it would make them as easy to hunt as for Opalo users. Hunting bigger mobs is totally out of question, even with a faster reload time, unless in a big team. Try killing a young argonaut by yourself with a maxxed out TT sword, see how long you take, and how many times you swing the sword. Just their regeneration already makes hunting them with it more than inefficient. With a little faster reload time, and same damage, this wouldn’t change much. Fairly same number of swings (not counting the ones where they regenerate), you only might be hit less, which doesn’t really make much of a change to decide if a hunt is or not efficient, which means, hunting them (or other slightly tougher mobs) even with the upgraded EnBlade I suggested, wouldn’t be efficient either, so the new EnBlade would plainly be only to make hunting smaller mobs a little easier and to make up for the disadvantage of not being able to put an amplifier on it.

well you dont need to worry bout that soon =) if they are as easy to breakeven/profit as you stated, they will not be that for long. so just enjoy the stats as they are  if MA would make bigger guns to be more efficient everyone would profit. and thats baaad for economy. ofcourse limited items are diffrend thing, cos you have to buy new gun after old is used and lose that way  and they could make nonlimited guns have better economy. but then they would have to chance system a little bit by making them uneconomical again. quess only way is to move from ampped opalo to imk2 little jump there, but you see what future brings

and if i was completely offtopic, thats cos i am tired as hell so no whining :wise:

How would making an upgrade to a weapon, with exactly the same stats, but just a faster reload time make people profit even more? I don’t see how it could change the amount people would gain with it in any possible way.

Increase in speed would make you fap LESS, have LESS armor decay and reduce the regeneration on mobs which means you need to do LESS damage to kill a mob => lower expenses = higher profits, simple rule of business.

I am quite sure 99% of the people who use TT swords to hunt, use fap-5, so it’s an economy of some mere PECs. I am quite sure, too, that 99% of the people that hunt with TT swords wear Goblin/Pixie/Gnome sets or worse ones, so once again, an economy of mere PECs. I have never seen an avatr with a Rascal set or better using a TT sword to hunt. Considering all of this, it would be very unlikely that someone saves up money worth more 1 PED or more. It is a ridiculous amount.

And here I go again reminding you, that Opalo users, don’t have nearly to fap as much, neither the armor decay as melee users. The maintenance for melee weapons is alone much more expensive than the one for ranged weapons. MA could at least have the decency of making a faster upgrade to the EnBlade-A, so that our costs with fap and armor are at least similar to the ones of ranged users. Repairing the swords is already expensive enough.

i dont think you need to buy or even craft a say enblade-B but looting an eblade-B with similar stats to Enblade 2 but mabey just a little better so it’s not TT food. Espeislaly since on bot missions you seem to loot enblade-2’s would be nice if you got something that wasn’t just TT even if it was same stats but mabey had skill bonus or better critical hit.

to me there should be this obvious scale like:

you start fressh and use enblade-A until skill bonus is gone.
then you can use Enblade-B for skill bonus.

You are failing to understand a few crucial points here…
Money is allways money and profit is allways profit, no matter how small it would seem in one single situation.
Even if the cost difference is only small, it still adds up. One person runs around and kills 100 mobs (not that much), saves 1 PEC per kill due to high speed, so he saves 1 PED. And 1 PEC alone is a huge difference when you are killing small mobs that take 10-50 PEC to kill. Now take 10 000 people running around doing the same thing, and suddenly the figure goes to 10 000 PED. And with the current amount of newcomers that can be reached in one day, easily. That means 1000$ in one day. You have to think about it in the right context and to the correct scale.

And don’t even try to compare REPAIR costs between a ranged weapon and a melee weapon, that just indicates that you haven’t understood the concept of damage/pec and cost to kill. Melee weapons don’t use ammo, you pay for the decay alone. With ranged weapons, you pay for both ammo AND decay. And you don’t have to explain how melee fighting works, I’ve been a melee fighter for a long time and I’ve got more than a fair share of skills in several melee categories. Also, in melee fighting speed makes even more of a difference than in ranged combat. For example, Katsuichi Determination and Valor: Determination has only 3 points (less than 5%) higher maximum damage and about 30% higher tt. It is only 0.1 seconds (less than 10%) faster in reload and after a full sword hunt with Determination armor decay is lower than after a full Valor hunt. So you can just imagine what the difference would be if the reload of the TT sword would be reduced by 0.5 seconds (17%!!) or 1 second (33%!!) with the rest of the stats staying the same.

IMO improving ANY of the TT weapons would result in the whole PE population using only them which would just lead to a total chaos.

You are failing to understand a few crucial points here…

Well, I think you are failing to see some crucial points here, too. I am quite aware of the ammo costs and repair costs. An Opalo, amped with a 103, uses 5 bullets per shot (5 PEC) plus the amp’s and weapon’s decay (less than 1 PEC per shot), which makes around 5,5 PECs pere shot. A single TT sword swing costs more than 5 PECs to swing, too. And then we have all the fap costs, armor decay and whatnot, which is way higher for melee users than for ranged users. The upgrade I suggested would only make both ranged and melee users have similar costs.

Also, there’s the fact that there’s also many more ranged users than melee users, let alone the begginnners that use TT swords instead of axes, because of outdated guides or mistaken people’s advice.

If the efficiency of the weapon I suggested is unbalanced, so is the one of the Opalo, taking in acount that when amped with a 103 it deals more average damage than a TT sword for similar decay, is faster and let’s it’s wielder have less fap and armor decay.

So you can just imagine what the difference would be if the reload of the TT sword would be reduced by 0.5 seconds (17%!!) or 1 second (33%!!) with the rest of the stats staying the same.

Maybe you haven’t noticed that I suggested a proportional TT value and decay. So let’s say that if the TT sword now costs 15.8 PEDs and has decay of around 5.5 PECs, make the upgraded version cost 47.4 PEDs and have decay of 16.5 PEDs. It would only be a mechanism not to let begginers get their hands on them too early (which wouldn’t make much sense anyway if the bonus level range would start at 1000 in Longblades and 260 in Inflict Melee Damage). Apart from that, it would be a weapon sold in the TTs, not a crafted weapon with a chance of failing, that needs a hard to find BP (which greatly influences on the weapon’s price, too).
