Also looking for work

First of all this is not a rip of tao adok’s thread, i was gonna make a thread like this anyway and when i came online tao adok had already made his. Basically i’m a bit of a n00b with no means of depositing as im only 14 and dont have a cc. I’ve been advertising in game about a job for quite a while but none seems to have any offers, except stuff like get the chair st Twin Peaks and gather me 3000 sweat. I’m sick of sweat gathering and dont seem to get that much after the last vu. I can never reach the rig before i am either PKed or killed by a trox. I was a part of that Zynchion(sp) Theme Park thing but i didnt find the hours that i had to be online worth the money.

So anyone got any job offers?

ive had soc members that are non-depositors, and have done very, very, very well… better than a lot of depositors…

one of their strategies was to hook up with someone who owns a hangar, and sell space tickets for them. i dont own a hangar, so i cant help you, just offering the suggestion.

another strategy would be to become a trader. buy low, sell high… if you make the right contacts, you could really do well.

good luck to you! if youre up to the challenge, it could be a lot of fun… if youre not, it could be just boring.

Thanks for the addvise.

I’ve been thinking about becoming a trader for a while but every time i make a few PED’s i spend it ammo thinking that its my turn for a HOF. I did loot goblin arms male once though which im still trying to sell, tt+2 if anyone’s interested  . Hopefully once i sell them ill be able to buy another pair of some uber hunter for tt price and then just continue the cycle, eventually moving on to better items.

Does anyone know somebody that owns a hanger and needs help selling tickets, sounds like a half decent job to me.

LOL! trust me… i think the same thing… ‘if i go hunting with these last few peds, ill hof, and make it pay off!’

keep in mind that anything fun in this game is going to make you lose ped. hunting, crafting, mining… ok mining is questionable, i do pretty good with mining… but yeah anything where decay is involved, youre going to lose. the house always wins, thats how MA stays in bidness. your chat window doesnt decay, so use it!

be a trader. it will pay off. maybe some time we can meet up in game, and i can give you some of the goblin and pixie pieces in my storage… i also have some axes too, i could help you get started.

trading in items and resources sounds like a good way to get started for you… once you start making contacts and people get to know you, you could become the ‘go-to guy’… people could message you saying ‘i need a blah blah blah’ and you could track it down for them, sell it to them, and make a small profit… rinse and repeat. it could also work in reverse, where you could build up a reputation as a trustworthy guy, and people could give you items to sell, then give them the ped, minus a small fee.

youre obviously smart, and interested in the game, i think you have a really good chance of getting on your feet. youre on the right track already, keep it up!

=)

thanks again. Well im gonna go and try to sell these goblin arms, i’ll probably be in PA if anyone wants to buy them.

There are quite a number of things you can do in this game to make money without depositing. I started playing ‘properly’ about three months ago. I never deposited and I’ve accumulated just under 3000 Ped…but it did involve LOTS of effort (and enjoyment…and frustration). I lost LOTS of money through sheer stupidity and that’s what I like about this game; it doesn’t forgive you if you make mistakes!

There are the obvious ways: 1) Sweating, 2) Oil rig, 3) Being a runner for a hunter, 4) Trading.

Then there are also the ‘not so obvious’ ways. Unfortunately, as I’ve outlined in another post, this website is in the pocket of MA and we are not allowed to talk about anything MA would disapprove of…and MA disapproves of anything that makes players money!!! Therefore it’s difficult to elaborate…but I’ll try to stay on the right side of the self-appointed MA-police by hinting:

  1. Remember that a lot of stuff of value that you can get in this game is gotton by repetitive tasks (sweating, skills…etc)

  2. Computers are marvellous at repetitive tasks and can run by themselves (while you sleep) when told how. Of course ‘autoclickers’ (ack! spit!) are banned by MA and everything banned by MA is banned in this forum so I would NEVER EVER suggest that you should use anything like that  NEVER! NEVER! EVER even think about the things!

  3. Open you horizons. Explore the map. Think! If you sweat (or skill), don’t bother with the usual places where you make peanuts for hours of effort. A little bit of exploration and a little trial and effort will pay dividends. I promise! Just keep 2) in mind when you go looking.

  4. Generally keep away from ALL ‘normal’ activities such as hunting, mining or crafting. Anyone with more than an average IQ (only 50% of the population!) can work out that all of those are sure to lose you money…otherwise MA would lose money! If you want to shoot monsters then play DOOM. If anyone tells you otherwise then you can safely ignore any other advice they give you. The only exception is if you can convince people with better skills and equipment than you have, to include you in their hunting team. That way you might actually make a return on your investment! But there’s no pleasure in ripping other people off, so that’s probably one to avoid.

  5. Keep your eyes and ears open and talk to lots of other players. Make sure you have lots of people in your ‘friends’ list. After a few minutes of chatting with anyone, slip into the conversation a question as to whether they agree with 4). If the answer is ‘no’ then move on and ignore any other advice they gave you and remove them from your ‘friends’ list (it has a limit and those people are useless to you…unless you’re trying to find people who are easily ripped off and you have a criminal mind!).

  6. Remember that it’s possible to enjoy this game for reasons other than those offered by MA. I personally treat my Ped balance in the same way I’d treat a ‘high score’ in Space Invaders! That’s what I focus on and that’s my measure of my success or otherwise. Forget about the fool-fodder such as HOFs (a measure of how much a guy has lost when they didn’t HOF) and skills (unless you want to sell them).

  7. Trading is VERY important. Focus on the auction. Hanging around Port Alantis is too time consuming. Although, buying in PA and selling in the auction is a pretty good way to make some money if you are starting off. Remember that although the auction is a very expensive way of trading on low value items, it is an EXTREMELY good value way of trading high value items since the auction fee is only one ped regardless of the sale price. Mind you, MA are sure to change this soon, so take advantage of their stupidity while you can.

  8. Again on trading…remember that the PE economy is basically flawed. Most items that are crafted or dropped by mobs just accumulate in the game. The laws of supply and demand kick in and so most items in the game go down in price in the long term. Have a look at the various auction-statistic sites if you don’t believe me. There are not enough new players to soak up the excess. So when trading, remember that generaly you should focus on making short-term investments. Keeping items in your inventory becasue the price has gone down, in the forlorn hope it will increase again is a fool’s game. Cut your losses and sell. Also, study how the auction works.

  9. Always sell the items in your inventory well in advance of each new VU (new version of the software). You might be very lucky and find that a change to the software has made an item in your inventory worth more money but, on balance, you’ll find the opposite is the case. Always sell up well in advance.

  10. Remember that you can be banned from the game (and lose all your peds)for doing anything deemed by MA to be ‘illegal’ and also remember that there are lots of illegal activities. The awful people who do this stuff take appropriate precautions. I detest them. They should be shot at dawn and their entrails given to a hoard of trox for breakfast!

I was gonna come in here and say “www.monster.com,” but you seemed polite in your posts. Find me in game or pm me, I have a LOT of stuff you could sell for me and make some money

Valiant, you wont be around for very long if your continue to follow some of your advice.. ie autoclicking for sweat, mob traps, scams etc that you illude to. also you quote ‘MA disapproves of anything that makes players money!!!’ doesnt hold water, why not say the truth eh? its not hard, MA disapproves of people who abuse bugs, and actually so do folks like myself. why, basically you suck money from the loot pool and in the long run makes the game more expensive for the rest of us.. I’ve no problem with your legit suggestions, resell, run, normal sweating.. but thats not where you got your 3kpeds from is it :wise:

" The awful people who do this stuff take appropriate precautions. " classic line from whannabee crooks, scammers.. i’ll never be found out, im smart… sure.. “I detest them” trying to be ironic i see  .

Hmmm…I take your point. All I can constructively add in defence (and to what I’ve already said) is that if a game is well designed than there should be little or no room for ‘illegal’ activity. In some sense, a very effective way of closing such loopholes is to exploit them and, by doing so, show MA the importance of closing them.

A case in point is the over-relience on repetitive tasks in this game (sweating, mining, skilling, manufacturing, refining etc. etc.). It’s an open invitation to those who would bend the rules…and disadvantages those who don’t. That can’t be right. For instance, I quite like the new concept of gathering ‘fruit’ and ‘dung’, simply because it’s much more difficult (almost impossible?) to automate than sweating.

In my book, the best way of rendering an ‘exploit’ redundant is to publicise it and have everyone aware of it. The alternative is to censor any mention of it and hope it goes away. It won’t, and all you end up with are an ‘elite’ who are ‘in the know’ and the great majority who aren’t.

So, we should exploit loop holes to show MA the imprtance of closing them. Ang on a minute, so if I left my front door open and went out, it would be ok for you to come along and steal from my house, simply because I gave you the opportunity, and you would feel it your duty to show me ther error of my ways. People like that are called Thieves.

Why not just pop over, close my door for me and be on your way?

You also say that publicising an exploit is the best cure for it, because everyone can take advantage of it. Ooh yeah thats clever. Let every fuckbag take all the hard earned peds out that others have put in.

How about you just report it to MA and let them fix it?

I think you need to look at things a little differently. You have never deposited so maybe you dont see the diffrence. I for one have and so have many others. Hope you can see what you are saying is wrong, as you clearly are enjoying the game. Look at things more from other people’s point of view and you will get along just fine.

If you hate the game that much that you find it to be boring and need to have a puter work for you, try playing different games or something.

You must be a very lonely individual. I have no problem with a noobie team-hunting with me and actually making a few bucks, but I do expect him/her to actually put in some form of effort. If that is not what you are looking for, than you’re no better than any other beggar in the game. You expect something for nothing.

And people who refuse you are apparently not worthy of knowing you? If that’s the case, you ought to remove your head from your ass. But, seeing as how I’d refuse to take you on a free tour, feel free to ignore that advice.

And yet there will always be some dingleberry who feels the need to gain an advantage somehow. You know the type. In a barbrawl they’ll be the ones using bottles, cuesticks, knives and the likes against another person who’s decent enough to stick to his fists.

While I greatly enjoy Married with Children, “It’s only cheating when you get caught” will always be just a funny line; not a life-motto.

Hang on while I go rob the local bank, will you? It’s well designed, but there are loopholes and I want to ensure my money is totally safe. I shall point out any of those loopholes, and the bank will in turn be extremely greatful that I showed them the importance of closing said loopholes. I am sure the judge will feel the exact same way.

It’s people with the same attitude as yours who create viruses on computers. Something like that takes very little skill (other people have discovered the loopholes for them), causes great damage, but hey, they made CNN, right? And now Microsoft is bound to ensure they close the loophole. Somehow I doubt they considered the stretching Bubba’s will be giving 'em soon.

For someone who seems to think he’s oh-so smart, you’re quite short-sighted. And I do hope that for your sake, Bubba will lube up…

thanks for all the advice everyone and to those that offered ill see if i can find you in-game, if we’re on at the same time that is.

i seem a bit late in response lol…

essentially, im a full-time mentor… so if you catch me, or any of my disciples, id be perfectly happy to take you on a few hunts… and i teach them how to hunt for profit (no armor, no faps) so im sure youll come out a few peds on top…

i also absolutely refuse to spam, so if you want, you can sell items for me (much as nereshimo already offered)

your mentor SHOULD be helping you out there ;p if hes not, thats cool, ill teach you what i can-- probably 30% of my disciples are officially ‘mine’ anyways…

to all the people who offered to help me out by meeting up in-game or giving me items to sell could you please tell me what time (MA time) you are usually on at and where you can usually be found.

bumping up the last post
