A new PE community site, need input!

I’m a web developer so i get ideas like these, aside from the renting weapons
thread which is apprently an old idea (i didn’t know, but it’s still good :slight_smile: )

Since i’m a very good web developer with spare time this summer, i was
thinking of creating a “NEW” kind of PE community site, one that allows
for your input.

The major function of the site is that EVERY weapon will be a PE-Blog.

This means, each weapon has it’s own dedicated page, and on this page is a
highquality screenshot of the weapon and it’s stats (i’m gunna do this cause
alot of screenies from other sites are in low quality jpeg or video card sucks)

Now here’s the part that really sets it aside from others.

People will be allowed to Rank/Rate each weapon from 1-10 stars (10 being
the greatest) and … they can write what they use it to kill (optional)… they
check off the creatures from a pane of checkboxes for each creature.

You will also have a comment box to write a description of why you like this
particular weapon, why you ranked/rated it what you did, do you recommend
it to others? or even how good is it in PVP?

edit: I’d also put crucial stats like decay rate, price per use, etc. on each
weapon’s page just so you get all the info from one site. Proper credits to
paul crystal will be given, as these stats are gunna be taken from his site
and linked so it’s not a rip off.

I can’t ask people what they paid for their weapon because “when” is the
factor which will mess up the results.

Instead, my prices are gunna come off PE’s own ingame auctions…

I have some big plans with this site, might have to get some “OK’s” from MA
first though … gulp

EDIT: I noticed www.PE-Monitor.com is already logging auction prices, which
was my other idea instead of asking you what you paid for your weapon.
I’m going to just log auction prices myself if he doesn’t help me with my
project.

EDIT2: The failure in his site is that he asks for people to register, my site
will be optional to register. NO ONE likes to register, we want info quick. It’s
discouraging. ALSO, people use the same password and usernames for everything,
what if the owner should take advantage of that.. not that i don’t trust him,
he should atleast put a disclaimer there.

nice idea, i think You might want to consider having a chat with Roulette he seems to have a similar idea goin on over at pe player.

His site is better than PE-Monitor.com for sure.

I like how he has movies, monster stats, and auctions all in one. But some
data is still missing.. I’m sure it must be hard to keep up, especially when there’s
no funding on these sites. Props to these guys and their hard work.

My site however is more about quality, and accuracy in all aspects. Nice
consistant screenshots for one, that i’m going to take my self with my nice
video card. I already developed an application to mass manipulate my screen
shots of weapons to “cut out” aka “crop” a section (stats) out of the screenies
so they are all perfect. It’s going too far but i’m a perfectionist, i hate seeing
screenshots that are inconsistant and crappy.

All stats will be sortable by all it’s encompassing categories (date, bids, etc),
so you take control of all the information better.

I’m going to have a section called “Check it!”, where it asks you why your
buying the weapon (pvp/hunting/other), what level are you (beginner/interm.
/expert) as a player and the price your paying.

Based on reviews, recommendations, auction statistics, it tells you why you
should or shouldn’t buy it with details. So you make an informed decision.

It will be very noob friendly, ie. not just bombarded by lists of stats with
abbreviated categories. I want people less than a week new to PE able
to use this to their advantage while also helping the more advanced player
as well.

I’m going to start working on my auction logger now so i can get enough info
collected so that when i start the site it’s already accessible. i already
registered a domain name (.com) but will release it when the time’s right
(less than 2 weeks perhaps), ill keep the rest a secret to not spoil all the ideas.

Just so you all know, I migrated from the MMORPG Neocron, i made dynamic
sig banners for people on the forums which had the player count of each
server which i had to make actually log into the secure game world to do,
so you could see how active it was, i also created several utilities for that
game.. i’ve come along way since then, sadly addicted to PE now.

I think it could be very useful for anyone from new players - to check out which soc to apply to and to “old” players for whatever reason…

i actually know a perfect script ( to do a stand along website on this topic with rating, comment, description, vote, gallery systems etc. it costs $30 but i have a spare licence.
if anyone interested PM me (i can also help to configure it ant host it if needed, just cant comit to make the site myself - i have my own bus meaning my time free dont belong to me :dunce: …)
