Some were aware, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer + some spread to lymph nodes. It was this spread that made it a bit concerning. It was stage 1, nothing catastrophic. We caught it early because I was doing annual checks as this type of cancer killed my grandmother. The surgery is over and the hard part is over.
The lesson is what many have shared on this forum. Dont ever skip your check ups/your physicals. Take a moment to evaluate yourself.
Update 2-12-2026
Just an update - and want to previse this with not looking for pity. This is another lesson where I wish I had demanded a biopsy sooner as I learned there were notes that this was suspicious 3 years ago. Not that I like biopsies… they hurt and needles suck. I would be the worlds worst drug addict. In fact, it is in my file that I am seriously adverse to needles. :ROFLMAO:
They were expecting 1.3cm of cancer, what they could see on the ultrasound. They found 4.3cm instead - classified as a large (or big as they put it) cancer cluster. It spread to multiple lymph nodes and they were unable to get them all because I had one remaining parathyroid. Have two now, they took the one they damaged and sliced it up and put it in a muscle to regrow. It’s neat how the body can do that. I will be getting nuked in a month to get the rest and to kill off anything “thyroid tissue” related. Maybe I will make some videos of the Geiger counter going off. (U131 treatment)
As they tell me, it is stage 1 because I am not over 55. They said if I was over 55, it would be stage 4. Take care of yourselves folks. You are not immortal. Spend the extra dollars on extra tests for peace of mind.
